What's the best way to create a brochure, a flyer, logo or maybe a set of business cards? Who should prepare the artwork and what should you communicate? The easiest way is to have someone design it for you, but that is not allways possible, especially for those working on a tight budget.

 

There are a number of ways you can produce your artwork including the use of a professional designer working with Fourth Quote or simply making it yourself.

Using A Professional Designer
Most designers will have a design backgroud and will be competent with design software including Adobe™ Products, Corel™ and Quark™. Whilst it is possible for a designer to use only one of these products, a thorough knowledge across the various platforms provides the customer with a wider gamut of design options. Designers typically work on an hourly rate which varies from $60.00 through to several hundred per hour.

Doing It Yourself
Whilst this is still a very popular option, unless you have a good understanding of the software, you can end up spending many hours only to find it will need to be re-jigged by the designer or pre-press people to make it right. Often costing you as much if not more than having it outsourced. If you are competent with Mictosoft™ products, we accept files produced using Publisher™ , Excel™ and Word™ as well.

 

There are a couple of things you need to be aware of. Colour used with many non professional software is interpretyed as RGB (Red Green and Blue) which can create some stunning vibrant colours which do not print the same way on a press which utilises CMYK Technology (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black)
